This year’s NAME Gala Dinner event will be a fundraising event for Modern Mining & Technology Sudbury. The theme of the evening will be “Sustainable Mining Practices”.
There will be plenty of time for socializing and networking before and after dinner. Cocktails and networking start at 6pm when the room opens up. Dinner is served at 7pm.

Speaker: Helen Francis, Manager of Digital Transformation at VALE
Topic: Vale is in the midst of a major business transformation, leveraging digital and other technology to design work better, solve problems faster and exeecute with precision. From digitally enabled hub network to the role of battery electric vehicles, Helen will describe the vision for the future and the results achieved to date.
Helen has worked at Vale (previously Inco) for over 18 years. Educated as Mining Geologists 
and Mine Engineer, her career has crossed into many different functional areas within the Mining Company. Currently taking on Digital Global Change Management across Vale – where the company seeks to develop digital as a mindset across the entire employee base to ultimately improve safety, efficiency and productivity. The work focuses currently on digital transformation in the Iron Ore and Pelletizing as well as Base Metals business. Prior roles have included Program Lead for Digital Transformation Ontario, leading the Enterprise Resource Management System Design and Implementation across Base Metals, General Manager Production Support North Atlantic, Manager Health And Safety, Superintendent Occupational Health and Medicine, Underground Supervisor at Creighton – just to name a few.

Over the last 15 years, Mr. Barr has acted in various management capacities for El Nino Ventures Inc. (currently Chairman and CEO). Former president /CEO of Next Gen Metals, which merged with Namaste Technologies in February 2016.

Engineering from TUNS (Technical University of Nova Scotia, now Daltech) and a master’s degree in Mineral Resources Engineering from Laurentian University in Sudbury. In her new role 
as Director of Transformative Technologies and Specialized Services, she leads a team of talented scientists, engineers and technologists focused on applying Data-Driven Technologies and Transformative Equipment/Techniques to mining challenges. Prior roles at CanmetMINING have included Director of the Extraction Division, Ground Control Program Manager, and Mine Backfill Research Lead.
